Growing a school garden / Ecological Orchard

OVERVIEW

In our school we have a group that we call "Aula Oberta" (Open classroom) where some students with both academical and behavior problems follow an adaptatd curriculum

We adapt some subjects for these students and we work these subject within projects. The most important one is the ecological orchard we have build and where we work very hard right now

With this project students work on maths, natural sciences, environment, responsibility, cooperation and a lot more of aspects.

Some activities have been:

* Designing the parcels and the boxes for the orchard

* Installing the drop irrigation system

* Chosing the vegetable species to cultivate according to the season, the soil...

* Planting the vegetables.

* Taking care of the plants and the orchard.

* Harvesting and evaluation of the results.

OBJECTIVE(s)

* to have ecological responsibility and educational values

* to be involved in environment and ecological activities

* to develop students' habilities and values

* to recognize the possibilities of themselves growing vegetables

* to promote the use of ecological and environment respectful attitude.
