OVERVIEW |
Nowadays our natural resources are being decreasing rapidly with the increasing use of disposable products. The products which are thrown into naturel environment threat our naturel resources. "Each year in the European Union alone we throw away 1.3 billion tonnes of waste - some 40 million tonnes of it hazardous. This amounts to about 3.5 tonnes of solid waste for every man, woman and child, according to European Environment Agency statistics. Add to this total a further 700 million tonnes of agricultural waste, and it is clear that treating and disposing of all this material - without harming the environment - becomes a major headache." (European Commission, 2009,May) Reprocessing the used products which are released to environment to make new products may help to reduce the consumption of naturel resources. Recycling is a key component of smart protection of waste management. So recyling must be seen an important step for stopping the pollution of ecology. While the making the new products it is needed a huge amount of energy use. Instead of naturel resources in manufacturing, the using recycled processes can help to save energy. The European Union's approach to waste management is based on three principles:Waste prevention, recycling and reuse and improving final disposal and monitoring. If everyone starts and continues recycling and takes environment carefully, we can have hope that our students and their next generation will be able to enjoy nature’s resources as we did. This activity was carried out the students to have ecological responsibility and some values. Students collected diffent materials derived from school environment and put them into different boxes. The boxes were full they were sent to recycling corporations. The students understood the value of environment, the importance of our limited naturel resources and saving energy. And also student researched the recycling processes, its benefits and effects to ecology. |
OBJECTIVE(s) |
* to have understanding of recycling process and its benefits. * to have consciousness upon saving the world that we live in. * to develop social skills through the interaction the other students with making calls to collect the products which are released in the environment for recyling and saving ecology. |
RESOURCES |
The boxes for collecting products, gloves, brochures, nylon bags. |
