Context and motivation
There is a specific context in Escola Secundaria c/ 3.º Ciclo do Fundão that motivates teachers and the school administration to get involved in this Partnership.
Since two years ago, our school, traditionally a classic school, offers a new kind of study areas, as for instance, professional courses and specific educational programs for young students that had left school due to learning difficulties in standard curricula or due to social problems. Now, this range of young students has come back to school and this event has changed the profile of students and families that we were used to deal with. So, a good domain over communication and social skills will be a good investment, to our school, in a near future.
We believe that with this Partnership we will be able to improve the main areas referred above and that those will be the key to change behavior and promote a correct and sustained value education. We, therefore, understand this is the appropriate way to deal with communication problems among teachers, students, their families and among the whole educational community.Simultaneously we will be seriously involved working in ecological responsibility targeting value education. We want to take part in European cooperation activities such as this Partnership because we would like to share ideas and strategies on how to work educational values and we want to comprehend how the ecological issue is being worked out in the European Union nations. We also want to share ways of innovating and improve schools’ work organization. Besides that, we would like to increase in our students and teachers the sense of belonging to the European Union as active partners in searching for the solutions to common problems. Finally, we want to encourage young students to participate in the European challenges and major causes throughout innovative and pertinent projects.
From European cooperation we expect to gain new didactic materials sourced from the Partnership activities, as well as the creation of an improved and sustained educational environment throughout the development of activities that require a wide amount of skills as, for instance, communication and social skills, linguistic skills, team spirit and the use of ITC. Finally we expect to increase teachers and students motivation, as well as their creativeness.
